While stranded in Pambarra, Mozambique, he witnessed the devastating consequences of hunger firsthand. Children were dying around him every day. It is a partner of the largest African development organization, the ForAfrika Group (formerly JAM International), which was founded in 1984 by Africans in Africa. We now benefit from almost 40 years of experience in development cooperation and have our own global logistics network and reliable partners.<\/p>\n<p>It all started in Mozambique. Today, ForAfrika is present in numerous African countries. The network of our partner organizations, the <a href=\"https:\/\/forafrika.ch\/en\/about-us\/who-we-are\/#group\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ForAfrika Group<\/a>, has also expanded considerably over the years. At the time, a devastating famine threatened nearly four million people with starvation. Peter traveled to the village of Pambarra near Vilankulo in the province of Inhambane to assess how he could best support the local population.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">What was meant to be a one-day visit turned into a ten-day ordeal. Peter was left stranded without food, water, or any basic supplies. During this time, he witnessed unimaginable suffering: starvation, despair, and extreme poverty. Up to 30 people died of hunger each day, and countless children were left orphaned.<\/p><p>This experience profoundly changed Peter\u2019s life. Together with his wife Ann, he resolved to take action. From this decision, JAM International was born. In its early days, the organization focused on food distribution.
