Nutrition and education

Our help starts with the red skin. Filled with a nutritious meal, it turns the schoolchildren's hunger into hope.

School nutrition promotes access to education and empowers schoolchildren for their future.

The meal is produced locally in Africa and distributed by local helpers. With just CHF 9.50 a month, you can provide food and education for a child in Africa. By feeding children, we create access to education and thus lay a foundation for the future. According to the UN, this is the most effective aid for the development of a region. Make a donation to help children in need break out of the cycle of poverty and hunger.

School feeding

The ForAfrika meal, enriched with vitamins and minerals, is an effective way of combating hunger and promoting education. With just 9.50 francs a month you can feed a child every school day. The storage, preparation and distribution of the meals is carried out by the local villagers, whom we instruct. It is often mothers or grandmothers who are particularly concerned about the well-being and education of their children. If there is a lack of space, we support the school with the construction of a storage room.

The advantages:

  • prevents death from malnutrition

  • provides children with 75% of their daily nutritional requirements

  • prevents protein and energy deficiencies and their consequences (lack of concentration, etc.)

  • Promotes regular school attendance and increases enrollment figures

  • improves the situation of girls by equalizing their educational opportunities

What your donations achieve

Thanks to your donations, in 2022 we were able to raise over

Feeding children.

“For me, school feeding is a great incentive. School nutrition has helped me to stay in school myself. It has made me the person I am today. It’s not just a meal, it’s life-changing.”
Morgado Culembe, School Feeding Manager

Holistic development model

In addition to school feeding, the ForAfrika Group supports schools and thus education holistically and across projects. The aim is to lead entire communities to independence.

Wells & sanitary facilities: In order to reduce illnesses that would often keep children away from school, we are investing in wells, hand-washing stations and latrines at the schools.

School gardens: We use school gardens to give schoolchildren a basic understanding of agriculture. At the same time, the vegetables serve as a food supplement and the surplus harvest as an additional source of income for the school.

Training courses: ForAfrica employees regularly visit the schools and review the implementation of the projects. These employees also conduct training courses on various topics. Hygiene training courses are used, for example, to practise how to wash hands properly.

Infrastructure: We renovate schools or rebuild daycare centers through makeover aid missions.
