"Stiftung Schweiz ForAfrika"

As a partner of Africa’s largest development organization, the ForAfrika Group, we know the challenges that need to be overcome on the ground and support local communities in sustainably overcoming poverty and building a better future for themselves and their families.

Through our work in the areas of nutrition and education, wells and water, agriculture, emergency aid and our aid missions, we support local communities in overcoming poverty in a sustainable way and building a better future for themselves and their families. We help regardless of ethnic origin, religious and political beliefs or gender.

As Switzerland ForAfrika, we are subject to federal foundation supervision and are recognized as a non-profit organization. We also carry the ZEWO seal of approval, which guarantees that donations are handled responsibly.

The “Stiftung schweiz ForAfrika” (formerly Stiftung JAM Schweiz) is subject to supervision by the Federal Department of Home Affairs.

Strategic team - Board of Trustees

Maik Strassl

President

“As a participant as well as an outreach officer, I have seen many times on the ground how ForAfrika’s help in Africa improves the lives of so many people. Fittingly, Nelson Mandela once said, “It always looks impossible – until you’ve done it.” “

Maik Strassl is a computer scientist and entrepreneur. Apart from Africa, his heart beats for the event industry (as of 2022).

Sabrina Leuenberger

Vice President

“Ever since I was able to spend two months in Johannesburg, South Africa, for professional reasons in 2011, I have been fascinated by the African continent. Being able to express my love for Africa from a completely new perspective for the poorest people makes me particularly happy.”

Sabrina Leuenberger works as an expert in organizational management at UBS (as of 2022).

Michael Müller

Board of Trustees

“People are worth standing up for… This statement has been with me for many years. Providing support so that people can find their way to an independent existence and self-employment is very important to me. With my many years of experience, I can make my contribution to this.”

Michael Müller is the overall manager of the Ancora-Meilestei Foundation. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Mein Platz Foundation (as of 2022).

Philip Winkler

Mariana Dittmann

Managing Director

“Having grown up in the north of Argentina, I knew very early on how important education and agriculture are for development. Working at ForAfrika means a lot to me because together we can achieve a goal that I have personally been pursuing for a long time: supporting the fight against illiteracy and poverty.”

Fabienne Stöckli

Project Manager Operations

“During my four years as head of operations, I was able to see the sustainability of ForAfrika for myself on the ground. Supervising volunteer teams and making children’s eyes in Africa light up with them fulfills me in my daily work for ForAfrika.”

Judith Müller

Judith Müller

Project Manager Charity & Fundraising

“Through my professional experience in the tourism industry, I have experienced global poverty and consider it a great privilege to be able to live in Switzerland. My aid missions in South Africa enabled me to experience the direct impact of ForAfrica at first hand. Now I am committed to ensuring that every person in Africa has the opportunity to overcome poverty and live independently.

Benjamin Aebersold

Marketing & Fundraising

“What counts in the end is not impressive projects, many successes or great wealth – it’s changing people’s lives. That’s why I love putting my skills and my heart and soul into helping one person after another to a better future.”

ForAfrika Group

The ForAfrika Group is the largest African development organization working for an Africa that thrives.

ForAfrika was founded in 1984 by a South African couple as part of an emergency aid project in Mozambique. Over the years, the work expanded to other countries in Africa and support offices from several intercontinental countries (e.g. we as the Swiss ForAfrica Foundation) joined the vision of ForAfrica – an Africa that thrives. This is how ForAfrika grew to become the largest development organization founded and run by Africans. Together as the ForAfrica Group, we are pursuing the 10-year goal of leading 20 million Africans to independence by 2032.

Thanks to our local roots, we know the challenges facing our communities and how best to tackle them. Our employees often live in the communities we work with. This makes us agile and provides us with local knowledge that feeds into our strategies and strengthens our resilience.
