Annual report 2023
It is with great gratitude and pride that we present our annual report for the past year.
A year that was characterized by remarkable progress and tireless commitment despite all the challenges.
ForAfrika was founded in Africa and by Africans. That is why our actions are based on partnership, holistic and long-term cooperation at eye level.
The CCDA (Complete Community Development Approach) ensures that we run programs that not only meet the immediate needs of individuals, but also bring about lasting change in the village community. The CCDA comprises four phases:
We have set ourselves the goal of gradually and constructively leading entire communities in Africa to independence (see illustration). In the first phase, we are continuing to stabilize the situation through emergency aid, for example by providing food and emergency shelters. The second phase focuses on building the community and its infrastructure and strengthening its resilience. Measures such as the drilling of wells, the construction of sanitary facilities and the promotion of education through school feeding or our aid missions serve this purpose. Our efforts then flow into the final phase, in which we lead the communities to independence. This means that people should be able to provide for themselves and their families without our ongoing support. Agricultural projects and economic development measures play a crucial role in this.
The focus is on humanitarian emergency aid during and directly after natural disasters, conflicts or other crises. Human lives should be saved, provided with basic care and protected.
The focus is on improving the reconstruction of infrastructure and communities. Safety net programs are being implemented, a community approach is being promoted and the first means of securing livelihoods are being used.
The ultimate goal is the sustainable transformation of communities. Livelihoods are improved, the resilience of communities is ensured and the economy is promoted. All of this leads to self-sufficiency and a thriving Africa.
At the 2015 UN summit, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals were adopted as part of the 2030 Agenda. All 193 UN countries, including Switzerland, have committed to working together to achieve the goals by 2030.
As Switzerland ForAfrika, we support the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with our projects. Through our programs, we contribute directly or indirectly to achieving the following goals:
End poverty in all its forms and everywhere
End hunger, achieve food security and better nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.
Ensure a healthy life for all people of all ages and promote their well-being
Ensure inclusive, equitable and quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all
Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls
Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all
Promote lasting, broad-based and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all
Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation
Reducing inequality within and between countries
Take immediate action to combat climate change and its effects
Strengthen means of implementation and breathe new life into the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development
